Local coverage

Is there a home doctor that covers Ellenbrook?

Yes. Perth Home GP covers the whole Ellenbrook corridor. Our doctors visit patients across Ellenbrook, Aveley, Brabham and Dayton, out to The Vines and Upper Swan, and down into the Swan Valley at Henley Brook, West Swan, Caversham and Bennett Springs. Because we come to you, there is no waiting room and no drive while you are unwell.

Ellenbrook sits at the top of the north-east corridor, on the fringe of the Swan Valley where the newest estates give way to vineyards and semi-rural blocks. It is one of the fastest-growing pockets in the country, with Aveley, Brabham and Dayton filling in around it and The Vines and Upper Swan spreading into greener, more spread-out land beyond. The long-awaited Ellenbrook rail line has finally connected the area to the city, but new services on the ground have not always kept pace with the new streets. The clinics along the growth corridor book out fast, and after hours the options thin quickly. A home visit closes that gap: the same care you would get from a GP in Ellenbrook, brought to your door.

Perth Home GP is a fully accredited general practice, not a telehealth-only or urgent care service. The doctors who visit are all GP Fellows (FRACGP or FACRRM), providing full GP care at home, seven days a week, in hours as well as after hours. That means we can help with a one off illness or provide regular, ongoing care for someone who finds it hard to leave the house. And because our telehealth is staffed by GPs based here in Perth, they understand the local hospitals and referral pathways in a way interstate services often cannot.

Emergency or GP?

Is there an urgent care clinic in Ellenbrook?

If you think you might be having an emergency, such as chest pain or difficulty breathing, call 000 for an ambulance. Perth Home GP is not an emergency service.

Yes. Ellenbrook has a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic offering walk-in, bulk billed care for urgent but non-emergency problems. There is no hospital in Ellenbrook itself, so the nearest emergency department is at St John of God Midland Public Hospital, a short drive south, which is open 24 hours a day and treats both adults and children.

The urgent care clinic is a good option within its hours. When it is closed, or the problem is one a GP can handle at home, we come to you, day and night, so you avoid both the drive to Midland and the waiting room. Emergency departments also work through patients by severity rather than arrival, so for a non-urgent problem a home visit is often quicker. If you think you might be having an emergency, such as chest pain or difficulty breathing, call 000 for an ambulance.

Patient scenarios
Aveley · After hours

“My little one in Aveley has woken at 10pm with a barking, croupy cough and it’s frightening to hear, though their breathing is normal. My other kids are asleep and my partner’s not home, so I can’t just load everyone into the car. It doesn’t feel like a 000 call, but I need a doctor. What can I do?”

Book an after hours home visit. A GP will come to you in Aveley this evening to assess the croup and advise you on managing it overnight, without you having to wake and move the other children. If their breathing becomes seriously laboured at any point, that’s a 000 call, so phone an ambulance if things worsen. Otherwise, call 1300 815 321.

Brabham · Telehealth

“We’ve recently moved to Brabham and haven’t found a regular GP yet. Now the flu’s gone through the house and it’s Sunday, so everything local seems shut. I don’t think we need to be examined, we just want a doctor’s advice and maybe a certificate for work. Any options?”

Telehealth is a good fit here. A GP can talk through your symptoms by phone or video, issue a medical certificate and any scripts you need, and tell you plainly if anyone should be seen in person. You will be speaking to a Perth-based doctor, and telehealth is bulk billed for eligible patients. If someone does need examining, we can arrange a home visit in Brabham.

The Vines · Daytime

“My mother out at The Vines had a hip replacement recently and the wound needs checking, but she’s on a semi-rural block and getting her to a clinic is a real effort while she’s still recovering. Could a doctor come out to her during the day to review it?”

Yes. Book a daytime home visit and a GP will come out to her at The Vines to review the wound and how her recovery is progressing, and handle any scripts or referrals from there. We can’t take over ongoing dressing changes, but we can come out to review the wound and check on her recovery. If she would do better seeing the same doctor through her recovery, we also provide regular, ongoing care at home. Call 1300 815 321.

Are home visits in Ellenbrook bulk billed?

Home visits in Ellenbrook have an out of pocket fee, with a Medicare rebate available to reduce what you pay. Scripts & pharmacies

Can I get a prescription filled in Ellenbrook after hours?

If you are searching for a chemist open now in Ellenbrook, hours vary from day to day, so a quick online search will show current opening hours before you head out. Often, though, you may not need the trip: our doctors carry starter medications for most urgent illnesses and can begin your treatment during the visit. During a night-time home visit, your GP can often give you a starter dose to tide you over until you can get to a pharmacy.

When you do need a script, your GP sends it to your phone as an eScript and you can take it to any pharmacy. Around Ellenbrook Central you will find Optimal Pharmacy Ellenbrook and the Zest pharmacy, with more options through Aveley and Brabham as the corridor fills out. Because it is an eScript, you can simply use whichever pharmacy is open and closest when you need it.

Frequently asked

FAQs

How quickly can a doctor come to my house in Ellenbrook?

It depends on demand at the time, so the best way to get an accurate arrival window is to call. Ring 1300 815 321 with your Ellenbrook address, and you’ll get a provisional ETA when you call. The visiting GP will then message you with a more accurate arrival time and keep you updated if there’s any delay.

Do you do home visits in Ellenbrook at night and on weekends?

Yes. Our doctors are available day and night, seven days a week, including evenings, weekends and public holidays. If you need a night doctor in Ellenbrook for an illness that can’t wait until morning, call 1300 815 321. For anything life-threatening, call 000.

Do you visit Aveley, Brabham and The Vines?

Yes, along with the rest of the corridor. Our coverage includes Aveley, Brabham, Dayton, The Vines, Upper Swan, Henley Brook, West Swan, Caversham and Bennett Springs.

Are home visits in Ellenbrook bulk billed?

No, home visits have an out of pocket fee, though a Medicare rebate is available to reduce the cost. Telehealth, however, is bulk billed for eligible patients (urgent issues after 11pm and children under 1), and we bulk bill telehealth for all patients for 12 months after a home visit from us. See our fees page for current figures.

Is there a walk-in GP clinic in Ellenbrook?

There are medical centres along the Ellenbrook corridor that take bookings and sometimes walk-ins, but they book out. Perth Home GP does not run a clinic: instead of a waiting room, we come to you, at home, day or night. If you would prefer to be seen without leaving the house, call 1300 815 321.

Is there an urgent care clinic in Ellenbrook?

Yes. Ellenbrook has a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic offering walk-in, bulk billed care for urgent but non-emergency problems. There is no hospital in Ellenbrook itself. If you think you might be having an emergency, such as chest pain or difficulty breathing, call 000 for an ambulance; the nearest emergency department is St John of God Midland Public Hospital, which is open 24 hours. Our own alternative is to come to you, which for a GP-level illness is often faster than a waiting room.

Is there a late-night pharmacy in Ellenbrook?

Ellenbrook Central has pharmacies including Optimal Pharmacy and Zest; if you need a chemist, a quick online search will show current opening hours. Any script your GP issues is sent to your phone as an eScript, so you can use whichever pharmacy suits. For urgent issues, our GPs can often give you a starter dose during a home visit to tide you over until you can get to a pharmacy.
